Tracy Howe Wispelwey is a guitar-slinging-storytelling-preacher. She’s Harvard educated and street wise. She’s a musician who loves to encourage others to play, think and do stuff for people who can’t do for themselves. I have always admired her heart, passionate followership of Jesus and sacrificial love for others. With her new album Hold On To Love she’s made me into a fan of her music.
I’m a musician who spends almost no time listening to music. I have enough going on in my own head to keep me occupied and satisfied. Full disclosure – in my not so humble opinion – there really isn’t much interesting that’s come across the airwaves since the late 60s. OK I’m done with letting you see what goes on in my head. I just wanted you to know how hard it is to get through to me musically. And as my atheist colleagues love to remind me – I could be completely wrong but as I love to remind them – I’ll take my chances on where I place my bet.
Back to Tracy. This new album is both ideologically and musically strong. It’s truly interesting to listen to and Tracy’s ideas will inspire you to take action. I’m so proud that Tracy has continued to push herself intellectually, spiritually and relationally (she got married recently – yea Tracy and Seth) plus she hasn’t let Harvard’s ivory tower rob her of her passion for the street and the people who live there.
