Women are clearly  the most discriminated group of people  in history. If you remove race, money and religion but add gender you will see what I mean.

Women and girls have been discriminated against for millennia by men – in recent history it’s been mostly white men. Jesus isn’t happy with this set up which is why (unlike men) he never met a woman he didn’t like and he played favorites with women.

It was his example that prompted me to expose the misuse and abuse of power by people who call themselves followers of Jesus ad why I chose to tell the stories of 15 women who call themselves (or called themselves) Christians. It’s to provide reasonable people with a rationale to change their thinking and to introduce people to each other in the hopes that they might like someone they expected to well… hate.

I don’t usually feel “proud” of work that I create. I’m normally critiquing it while jn the act of presenting it. I never rest. But recently I’ve produced  what I hope will be the first of many interviews under the auspices of my new company Jim Henderson Presents and I am very proud of this work. It took many people and much much longer than expected but thanks to a partnership with Owen Kindig and Ztorytellers I’m happy to announce the release of my inaugural interview with Ira Glass. Ira is veritable rock star with the NPR crowd. He has over 2 million listeners to his weekly show This American Life. 

A while back he agreed to sit down with me and talk about anything and everything. Some of the questions are standard such as how did he get his start in radio and how did This American Life come into existence.But some will surprise you  such as how he became an Atheist and his affection for Christians. Ira is transparent, inspirational, educational, vulnerable and funny. He and I became friends as a result of these conversations. He even answers my emails now (at least once every 6 months

Get over yourself asshole! Be for something please. I’m sick of Christians bitching about other Christians all the time. Why don’t you just go out an make a difference and BE FOR SOMETHING….be for Jesus. If you don’t agree w/Piper or Driscoll….don’t listen….and do something you believe is right and what Jesus wants.

My team and I design live events that engage the audience by asking them to help shape the content. Short presentations ignite public conversations. Spontaneous interviews take place with expert practitioners who are “discovered’ right in the event. All wrapped up in live music.

We see this kind of design as the future of live events- public conversations that leave people feeling more like they were at a concert than a conference. An experience that engages and exhilirates rather than exhausts people.

In a recent study people were asked to identify the biggest mistakes teleseminar presenters make
(this applies to live presenters as well)

1.Lecturing too much. When teleseminar leaders lecture too much,
it’s like the adults in Charlie Brown, after a while it all sounds like blah, blah, blah.
Lecturing is dead. People can check out without even leaving the room. Smartphone?

2.Too much content - yes, teleseminar (and live) leaders can actually can give too much info! Audiences are not as stupid as they used to be (Google). Now they can watch(Youtube)and read (Wikipedia) about you on the way to the event making you less important as a celebrity but more necessary as a guide (due to info overload)

3. Too much focus on themselves and not enough focus on the attendee – Too many teleseminar leaders want to talk all about themselves and what they know. Remember, the teleseminar attendee is thinking, “WIIFM – What’s In It For Me” Live interaction lets the presenter know directly what the audience is wondering about. Instead of them doing Q&A with you, you do Q&A with them. When you are answering a question they want answered they will truly listen.

4.Not engaging the audience - This is all too common. By not engaging the participant, they cannot retain nor apply what they have learned, making the teleseminar (and the leader) forgettable.At JHP we like to say “people remember what they say not what you say” Get them talking to each other about your ideas and you engage them. It’s like people who cant stop talking about the band they just heard or movie they just saw.

The first producer I pitched Save Me to contacted my agent this week and asked for a second meeting with himself and the president of his company.

Ill be heading to LA for the second pitch of Save Me the first week of February.

I plan to show them several of the audition videos that were sent in like this one sent in recently by Alex, an atheist who thinks people who believe in God need to be “saved” from their wrong beliefs.

We’re Saying Hello to Jim Henderson Presents

I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I’m a producer.  I discovered this through the assistance of 20/20 hindsight. Over the past 15 years I’ve produced books, shows and events.  I delight in taking new ideas to market especially those that have something to do with taking Jesus public.

Producers do 5 things.   I call them the 5 Cs. (To learn why you really do want a producer, click here.)

1.  Create – they have an idea (their own or other peoples) they need to express
2.  Collect – they gather a team such as, directors, actors, musicians and editors
3.  Cash – they raise, earn and beg for money to fund their projects
4.  Courage – they’ve had a backbone transplant, one made of titanium
5.  Crazy- they aren’t normal, failure is just another word for learning

These are the practices that have shaped my work. It wasn’t until the past couple of years that I became comfortable calling myself a producer but the reality is that is what I’ve always been. When I was playing music as a young person any band I fell in with I ultimately led and produced.

Even as a pastor I was more interested in producing leaders, apprentices and life altering events than I was in preaching or visiting people in hospitals. That’s why I’m excited to announce my new company Jim Henderson Presents. JHP provides me with an avenue into the entertainment industry. I’m moving in this direction because entertainment is the most trusted institution in existence today. The instruments of entertainment such as TV, music and movies are the most effective ways to access people’s imaginations a.k.a. the welcome mat of the heart.

I currently have several ideas I’m developing including a religious reality TV show, but the project I’m most excited about is my new book, “The Resignation of Eve – What If Adams Rib Is No Longer Willing To Be The Church’s Backbone.”

The book is being released on February 1 online and in national bookstores. You can pre-order it now from most online bookstores.
